Make assumptions visible

These tools support early specification discussions. They do not approve a design, establish a manufacturing price or replace the selected connector’s documentation. Use the units shown and keep track of the geometry and acceptance requirements behind every input.

Thickness conversion

Enter either microinches or micrometers. The relationship is exact: 1 µin = 0.0254 µm. The result changes the unit, not the meaning of a minimum or nominal requirement. See the thickness guide for drawing examples.

Ideal gold material model

Enter the total plated area per board, including both sides where applicable, the gold thickness and your own assumed price per gram in USD. The model uses pure-gold density of 19.32 g/cm³: mass in grams = area in mm² × thickness in µm × 0.00001932. It excludes alloy composition, plating efficiency, losses, nickel, processing, setup, testing, tax and all other fabrication costs. It is not a live precious-metal quote or a PCB price estimate.

Design readiness checklist

Use the checkboxes to identify missing inputs for a review. Completion means you have considered the listed topics; it does not mean the design meets a standard or has been checked by an engineer. Attach the relevant drawing to your inquiry when available.

01 / Plating specification

Gold thickness converter

Convert micrometres and microinches without rounding away the specification.

30 µin = 0.762 µm

1 µin = 0.0254 µm exactly. A unit conversion is not a plating recommendation. Specify the minimum, measurement locations and required finish independently.

02 / Cost drivers

Gold content cost model

See how contact area and thickness change the theoretical gold content. Enter your own material-price assumption.

Enter a gold price to calculate.

Model: area × thickness × 0.00001932 g. Uses bulk pure-gold density of 19.32 g/cm³, uniform nominal thickness, and no process loss. Include both sides in total area. Excludes alloy composition, overplating, nickel, bath efficiency, tooling, PCB fabrication, beveling, testing, margin and freight. This is not a PCB price or a quote.

03 / Before fabrication

Gold finger design readiness

Use this checklist to identify missing inputs before requesting a review.

A completed checklist is not an automated Gerber check or a manufacturability approval.
